[High Oil Prices Lead to Significant Increase in New Energy Vehicle Registrations in South Korea] Affected by energy supply shortages caused by the Middle East conflict, South Korean oil prices have risen, prompting more consumers to turn their attention to new energy vehicles. The latest data released by the Korea Automobile and Mobility Industry Association shows that as of the end of April, the registration of new energy vehicles such as hybrid and pure electric vehicles in the country has increased significantly year-on-year. In South Korea, hybrid vehicles fall under the broad category of new energy vehicles. According to a report by the Korea Business Wire on the 25th, data from the Korea Automobile and Mobility Industry Association shows that as of the end of April, the number of registered hybrid vehicles in South Korea reached 2.73 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.2%. Hybrid vehicles accounted for 10.2% of all registered motor vehicles, maintaining a share above 10% for two consecutive months. Pure electric vehicles also saw strong growth, with registrations increasing by nearly 40% year-on-year to 1.02 million, marking South Korea's entry into an era where electric vehicle registrations have exceeded 1 million.
