[Bauxite Prices Nearly Halved; Guinea, World's Largest Producer, Plans Export Controls in June] ⑴ Bauxite prices, a key raw material for aluminum production, have recently fallen. Guinea, the world's largest bauxite producer, plans to introduce reform measures next month to control exports in an effort to boost prices. ⑵ Guinea's bauxite production accounts for more than one-third of global output. In 2025, the country's exports are projected to increase by approximately 25% year-on-year to 183 million tons, with export growth accelerating further in the first quarter of this year. ⑶ Guinea's Minister of Mines and Geology stated that the surge in supply has led to lower market prices, with bauxite prices nearly halved from their peak at the beginning of last year. He hopes to push prices back to a reasonable range by controlling exports, with specific control measures expected to be introduced in June.
