[Thailand's Industrial Output Unexpectedly Drops 0.36% in April, First Contraction in Five Months] ⑴ Thailand's industrial output unexpectedly fell 0.36% year-on-year in April, missing market expectations of a 0.2% increase and reversing the previously revised 1.3% growth. ⑵ This is the first decline in Thai industrial output since November last year, mainly dragged down by a sharp drop in the automotive manufacturing sector, due to factors including rising oil prices and supply chain disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict. ⑶ Data shows that automobile production in April fell 0.44% year-on-year to 103,794 vehicles, a near six-year low, mainly due to export market disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict. ⑷ Thailand's full-year factory output is expected to grow by 1.0% to 2.0%, lower than the previously expected range of 1.5% to 2.5%.
