[UK House Prices Rise 1.5% in May; First-Time Buyers Pay 4.3% Year-on-Year] ⑴ Property website Zoopla reported that UK house prices rose 1.5% in May as first-time buyers sought to purchase higher-value homes. ⑵ Zoopla stated on Thursday that the average price of a UK house in May was £271,900, approximately $365,597, with first-time buyers paying around £254,750, a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year. ⑶ Zoopla stated that despite a 10% drop in buyer demand, the number of homes sold increased by 1% in May. The number of first-time buyers entering the market decreased by 6%. ⑷ Zoopla's managing director stated: "Despite lower buyer inquiries than last year, the number of transactions increased as determined buyers continued to pursue deals due to lower mortgage rates."
