[International Energy Agency: Middle East Conflict Reinforces Energy Security Strategies] On May 28th, local time, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released its "World Energy Investment Report 2026," which points out that the profound impact of the Middle East conflict is prompting governments and businesses to re-examine their energy investment strategies. With shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, concerns about energy security and the reliability of global trade have increased significantly. The report states that the current energy crisis, triggered by the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, is changing market perceptions of risk and driving countries to further diversify their energy and transportation routes. This crisis, occurring only a few years after the energy crisis triggered by the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022, is expected to have a long-term impact on future global energy investment priorities, particularly in Asia and the Middle East. These regions are most significantly affected by the disruption of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol stated, "We are in the midst of the largest energy security crisis in world history. I believe this will reshape global energy investment strategies, similar to the major changes the energy industry experienced after the oil crisis of the 1970s." (CCTV)
