[France to Reimburse Weight-Loss Drug Costs for Severely Obese Patients Starting in Mid-June] ⑴ The French Health Minister announced on Thursday that France will reimburse the cost of weight-loss drugs for severely obese patients starting in mid-June. ⑵ Novo Nordisk's Wegovy and Eli Lilly's Mounjaro are two injectable drugs that have garnered widespread attention globally as anti-obesity treatments. The relevant approval process is being finalized, and the reimbursement policy is expected to take effect in mid-June. ⑶ Eligible patients include those with a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher and at least one comorbidity, or those with a BMI of 40 or higher (regardless of whether they have comorbidities). ⑷ Up to one million people may benefit from this reimbursement policy; prescription rights remain at the discretion of the physician. The Health Minister stated that the reimbursement rate is 65%, but in practice, due to the presence of comorbidities, the vast majority of eligible patients will receive 100% reimbursement.
