[EU Energy Directorate: Supply Will Be Tighter if Situation Doesn't Improve in the Coming Weeks] On May 28th local time, the European Commission's Energy Directorate-General issued a statement saying that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has affected crude oil and all major petroleum products, impacting all EU countries. If the situation does not improve in the coming weeks, market supply is expected to become increasingly tight, especially in the aviation fuel market. The statement noted that the European Commission's Gas Coordination Group held talks with EU countries on May 26th, and the Petroleum Coordination Group also met on May 25th to discuss the security of EU gas and oil supplies given the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The Gas Coordination Group stated that EU gas storage levels could reach 80% by the end of summer, ensuring gas supplies for the winter of 2026-2027. The organization reiterated the need for regular assessments of gas storage facility fill levels based on actual conditions. (CCTV News)
