(1) Data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that as of April 2026, the average hourly wage for Missouri residents was $33.92, ranking 29th in the nation (including Washington, D.C.). Missouri residents work an average of 32.9 hours per week, earning an average weekly income of $1,115.97, equivalent to an annual salary of approximately $58,030. (2) Compared to neighboring states, Missouri's average hourly wage of $33.92 is only lower than Illinois' $36.35, but higher than Kansas ($32.98), Nebraska ($32.56), Oklahoma ($31.94), Tennessee ($31.79), Kentucky ($30.72), Iowa ($30.59), and Arkansas ($29.53). (3) Washington, D.C. has the highest average hourly wage at $57.39, nearly $24 higher than Missouri, but the cost of living there is about 50% higher than in St. Louis.
