[Trump Pressures Printing Authority to Design $250 Bill Featuring Trump's Image] According to the Washington Post, four current and former employees revealed that Trump administration officials have pressured the agency responsible for printing the nation's currency to design a $250 bill featuring the president's portrait; if this happens, it would be the first time in over 150 years that a living person has appeared on U.S. currency. These employees stated that since last year, two politically appointed Treasury officials—Treasury Director Brandon Beach and his senior advisor Mike Brown—have repeatedly urged staff at the Bureau of the Mint to create prototype samples of such a bill. The employees said this has raised concerns because federal law currently only allows the portraits of deceased individuals to appear on banknotes. Last year, Congress introduced a bill to allow Trump's portrait to appear on the $250 bill as a commemoration of the U.S.'s 250th anniversary, but that bill is currently stalled. It is reported that the head of the Bureau of the Mint, Solimene, was also removed from his post after claiming that the agency had no authority to print the bill.
