[UBS poachs Goldman Sachs veteran in Tokyo, betting on Japanese market recovery] (1) UBS has recruited a former Goldman Sachs executive in Tokyo to capitalize on the recovery in the Japanese market. An internal memo and a spokesperson confirmed that Shun Manabe joined UBS Japan’s brokerage division on Friday as co-head of global markets in Japan, working alongside Sean McCarthy. (2) Manabe was previously the vice president of fixed income and commodities sales at Goldman Sachs Japan, with over 20 years of sales and trading experience. He previously served as a managing director at Goldman Sachs and also worked at Morgan Stanley. At UBS, he will also serve as a managing director. (3) Manabe is at least the third senior executive to move from Goldman Sachs to UBS Securities Japan in the past eight months.
