[Super-Large Diameter Tunnel Boring Machine "Jiaoping No. 1" Rolls Off the Production Line] Today (29th), the super-large diameter tunnel boring machine "Jiaoping No. 1," jointly built by China Railway 11th Bureau and CRCC Heavy Industry, rolled off the production line in Changsha. The machine is approximately 110 meters long, weighs about 3,500 tons, and has an installed power of 10,000 kilowatts. It possesses integrated continuous operation capabilities for "cutting—slag removal—lining—grouting," and is currently the world's largest diameter earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine for high-speed railway tunnels. In the field of tunnel boring machines, there are two types: earth pressure balance and slurry balance. The choice depends on the applicable geological conditions and working environment. Slurry balance tunnel boring machines are generally used for crossing rivers and seas, while earth pressure balance tunnel boring machines are more commonly used in soft rock and urban areas.
