[ITER Organization: Superconducting Magnet Testing Facility Now Operational] The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) organization, located in southern France, announced on the 28th that its superconducting magnet cryogenic testing facility has become operational. According to reports, ITER's magnet system will be the world's largest and most integrated magnet system. ITER stated in a press release that the facility was converted from an existing building at the ITER site, and its main purpose is to test the performance of some superconducting magnets under rated operating temperatures and a maximum current of 68 kA before they are installed into the ITER device. ITER is an "artificial sun" device jointly built by the European Union, China, Russia, the United States, and other parties. The project aims to simulate the nuclear fusion process of the sun to explore the commercial feasibility of controlled nuclear fusion technology. (Xinhua)
