[ECB Study: Iran Conflict Accelerates Consumer Attitude Shift, Economic Shock Could Be More Profound and Rapid] ⑴ A study released by the European Central Bank on Friday shows that eurozone consumers are already scarred by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the turmoil surrounding the Iran conflict has accelerated their attitude shift, meaning the economic shock could be more profound and rapid. ⑵ The outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in February 2022 triggered an energy crisis and inflation, from which Europe has largely recovered. However, the US-Israel conflict against Iran on February 28th led to unprecedented energy supply disruptions. ⑶ ECB researchers analyzed whether eurozone consumers have become more sensitive to the economic impact of such geopolitical turmoil and stated that evidence suggests they have.
