[Slovenia's Inflation Rate Rises to 3.6% in May, Highest Level Since 2024] ⑴ Slovenia's annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.6% in May from 3.1% in April, the highest level since March 2024. ⑵ This increase was mainly driven by stronger price pressures in housing and utilities (inflation rate rose from 9.7% to 10.0%) and transportation (accelerated from 4.6% to 5.5%). ⑶ Additional upward pressure came from leisure and culture, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, furniture, and communications. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear prices nearly stabilized, falling only slightly by 0.1% after a 2.9% decline in April. ⑷ In contrast, price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages, medical services, and restaurants and hotels slowed slightly. On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.5% in May, a significant slowdown from the 1.9% increase, mainly due to lower prices for liquid fuels and diesel. ⑸ The harmonized inflation rate rose to 3.8% in May from 3.4% in April.
