[India's Loans Grow 16.2% Year-on-Year, Deposits Rise 12.2%, Credit Expansion Continues but Overall Volume Fluctuates] ⑴ Data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday showed that in the two weeks ending May 15, bank loans grew by 16.2% year-on-year, while deposits increased by 12.2%. ⑵ In the two weeks ending May 15, outstanding loans decreased by 238.07 billion rupees to 211.87 trillion rupees, non-food credit decreased by 359.41 billion rupees to 210.71 trillion rupees, and food credit increased by 121.33 billion rupees to 1.16 trillion rupees. ⑶ During the same period, bank deposits decreased by 1.80 trillion rupees to 256.89 trillion rupees.
