### Paramount's Acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery Officially Approved by the U.S. Department of Justice The U.S. Department of Justice has completed its antitrust review of Paramount Skydance's $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, concluding that the deal is "highly unlikely" to harm consumer rights or market competition in the film industry. In a public statement released Friday, the federal antitrust regulator said it would not request any adjustments to the deal, which had been under review for nearly eight months. "All reviews have ultimately concluded that the film industry is currently very active and the proposed transaction is unlikely to harm market competition or the interests of American consumers," the Department of Justice stated. Previously, a team of attorneys general from multiple states, led by California, had also been investigating the deal. If finalized, the merger would mean that two of Hollywood's top five studios would officially merge. According to previous media reports, these states were preparing to file lawsuits to block the merger; the Department of Justice's approval is largely in line with market expectations. Paramount welcomed the Justice Department's decision, stating in an official statement: "This deal is beneficial to market competition, as it will create a stronger company, allowing us to compete more confidently with the current dominant technology platforms in an increasingly competitive industry environment where there is fierce competition for audiences, industry talent, technology resources, and investment."
