TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released his latest assessment, predicting that foldable iPhone assembly and shipments in the second half of 2026 will be between 7 million and 8 million units, with approximately 500,000 to 1 million units shipped in the third quarter of 2026, accounting for about 10% of the total shipments in the second half of the year. In comparison, the estimated total shipments of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the third quarter of 2026 are expected to reach 20 million to 22 million units, a significantly larger scale than the foldable iPhone, and this inventory level is sufficient to meet the demand for the official launch of both models in September. Kuo points out that based on the inventory situation in the third quarter of 2026, the foldable iPhone is likely to replicate the launch schedule of the 2017 iPhone X: a launch event alongside other iPhone models released at the same time, but with pre-orders and official sales starting later than regular models, and the related supply shortage is likely to continue until the end of 2026.
