[EU and UK Officially Sign Treaty on Gibraltar] On July 14th local time, the European Union and the UK officially signed a treaty on Gibraltar in Brussels. According to the treaty, Gibraltar residents can enter Spain with their residence cards, and Spanish citizens can use government identification documents when entering Gibraltar. Passengers arriving at Gibraltar Airport will undergo passport checks by Gibraltar and Spanish border officials. The treaty was jointly signed by the EU Trade Commissioner, the UK Minister of State for European Affairs, the Spanish Foreign Minister, and the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The treaty is based on an agreement reached in 2025. Gibraltar, located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, is a British Overseas Territory bordering Spain. Since the UK's referendum to leave the EU in 2016, the border between British-controlled Gibraltar and the EU has remained a point of contention. (CCTV)
