Taco Bell, a fast-food brand owned by Yum Brands, issued a statement on Friday saying it has removed lettuce linked to the cyclosporidiosis outbreak from all its stores. In its public statement, Taco Bell stated, "Based on ongoing communication with public health authorities and out of the highest level of caution, Taco Bell has acted swiftly to proactively remove the affected products from its stores. The affected ingredients have been completely removed from our nationwide supply chain." Cyclosporidiosis is a parasite that can be easily transmitted through contaminated food and water. Infection can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. The restaurant brand's proactive removal of the affected ingredients is aimed at maximizing consumer safety and preventing further spread of infection risks.
