[Iron Ore Port Transactions Decline, Forward and Spot Markets Show Significant Increase] ⑴ After reaching a high of approximately 1.27 million tons on September 10th, iron ore transactions at major ports across the country fell back to approximately 1.19 million tons on September 11th, and further decreased to approximately 740,000 tons on September 14th. ⑵ Transactions rebounded to approximately 930,000 tons on September 15th, an increase of over 20% week-on-week, but declined again to approximately 860,000 tons on September 16th, a decrease of approximately 8% week-on-week. ⑶ Compared to the average daily transaction volume of approximately 1.04 million tons in the previous week, port spot transactions weakened overall this week, and the high-volume surge failed to continue. ⑷ Forward spot transactions, on the other hand, showed the opposite trend, gradually climbing from approximately 750,000 tons on September 10th to approximately 1.41 million tons on September 16th, setting a new high for the period. ⑸ The decrease in port spot volume and the increase in forward spot volume reflect a shift in market procurement focus towards forward resources, which may be related to steel mills' expectations for the future market and changes in the cost-effectiveness of dollar-denominated goods. (6) Going forward, attention should be paid to whether port transactions can return to above one million tons, and the transmission and driving effect of forward spot market activity on spot prices.
