[European Inland Barge Freight Rates Updated, Quotes Released for Multiple Routes] ⑴ Dow Jones Newswires released European inland barge freight rate data on September 16, covering 1200-ton dry bulk vessels. Quotes were provided at 14:00 CET, in Euros per ton. ⑵ For routes from German loading ports to the ARA region, Hamburg is quoted at approximately €29 per ton, Burstingen/Faldorf at approximately €26 per ton, and Hildesheim at approximately €24 per ton. ⑶ Braunschweig and Magdeburg are both quoted at approximately €23 per ton, Hanover and Minden at approximately €21.5 and €21 per ton respectively. ⑷ For routes from Rotterdam to inland Germany, Duisburg is quoted at approximately €12.5 per ton, Cologne at approximately €15 per ton, and Mainz and Papenburg at approximately €18 per ton. (5) Rotterdam to Frankfurt: approximately €20/ton; to Hanover and Braunschweig: approximately €21/ton; to Hildesheim: approximately €22/ton. (6) Rotterdam to Kehl/Strasbourg, Würzburg, and Stuttgart: approximately €25/ton; to Urzen and Hamburg: approximately €26/ton; to Nuremberg: approximately €26.5/ton; to Basel: approximately €28/ton. (7) Another set of data shows that fares on long-distance routes from German Baltic ports to Western Italy are significantly higher, with approximately €48/ton to the west coast of Western Italy and approximately €70/ton to Greece. (8) German Baltic ports to southern Spain: approximately €33/ton; to Western and Northern Spain: approximately €24/ton; to East England: approximately €19/ton. (9) Freight rates from East Anglo-Chinese ports to Portugal are approximately €22.5/ton, to northern Spain approximately €21/ton, and to Oldenburg approximately €19/ton. (10) Overall, inland waterway freight rates reflect regional supply and demand differences and variations in shipping distance. Short-haul routes are highly competitive with lower prices, while long-haul routes have seen significant price increases due to capacity adjustments and return trip restrictions. Future attention should be paid to the impact of inland transport demand and water level changes on freight rates.
