[Hainan's First "Hualong One" Nuclear Power Unit to Commence Commercial Operation] Today (the 17th), Hainan Free Trade Port's first "Hualong One" nuclear power unit—Unit 3 of Huaneng Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant Phase II—is about to officially commence commercial operation. The project utilizes my country's independently developed third-generation "Hualong One" nuclear power technology and adopts the first fully independent and controllable group-level nuclear power production management system in China. It can supply over 9 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy to the Hainan power grid annually. The Huaneng Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant Phase II project plans to construct two 1.2 million kilowatt units, Units 3 and 4. Once both units are fully completed, the annual power generation will reach 18 billion kilowatt-hours, meeting the electricity needs of one-third of Hainan Province's population. (CCTV News)
