[Shanxi's Unconventional Natural Gas Production Reaches Record High in First Eight Months] As a major comprehensive energy base in China, Shanxi Province possesses abundant unconventional natural gas resources. According to the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, unconventional natural gas production in Shanxi reached 1.68 billion cubic meters in August, a year-on-year increase of 7.7%; the cumulative production in the first eight months reached 13.32 billion cubic meters, setting a new record for the same period. Unconventional natural gas refers to natural gas whose underground occurrence and accumulation patterns differ significantly from conventional natural gas reservoirs, including shale gas and tight sandstone gas. Shanxi's predicted total unconventional natural gas resources are approximately 20 trillion cubic meters, accounting for about 8% of the total predicted natural gas resources in China.
