According to statistics released by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), in the week ending September 15, market speculators increased their net short positions in U.S. ultra-long-term Treasury futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) by 63 contracts, bringing the total to 345,203 contracts. Such position changes typically reflect market participants' bearish expectations for the future price trend of ultra-long-term U.S. Treasuries, and the continued accumulation of net short positions is often related to market judgments on the trend of long-term U.S. interest rates, inflation prospects, and macroeconomic policy direction.
