Statistics released by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) show that in the week ending September 15, speculative traders increased their net short positions in U.S. Treasury futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) by 2,640 contracts, bringing the total to 203,157 contracts. This change in positions reflects, to some extent, the cautious expectation of speculative funds in the market regarding the short-term trend of U.S. Treasury prices. Subsequent movements in these positions will become an important indicator for observing changes in sentiment in the U.S. Treasury market.
