CleanSpark Inc., a US data center operator, saw its first high-yield bond (i.e., junk bond) linked to Meta Platforms Inc. be met with overwhelming market demand, ultimately resulting in a premium issuance. The attractive yield drew significant investor interest, with subscription demand exceeding the issuance size by more than four times. According to sources, asset management firms subscribed to approximately $10 billion of the nearly $2.28 billion bond issuance. The five-year notes were priced at 98.5 cents per par, corresponding to a yield of 8.25%, approximately 175 basis points higher than the average yield of BB-rated corporate bonds as compiled by Bloomberg. The popularity of these high-yield bonds tied to the computing power needs of tech giants reflects the current market's high level of confidence in data center-related assets. Against the backdrop of continuously growing computing power demand, the debt repayment capabilities of the relevant operating entities have also garnered considerable investor trust.
