Regarding market access for trade in goods, both sides have reached a high level of mutually beneficial tariff reductions, further lowering tariff levels between the two countries based on the original free trade agreement. According to the latest tariff reduction arrangements, China and Switzerland will further reduce tariffs on nearly 300 tariff lines based on the original agreement, ultimately covering over 99% of bilateral trade with Switzerland. Specifically, Switzerland has already eliminated tariffs on all industrial products in the original agreement. The upgraded protocol will further significantly open its agricultural market by immediately implementing zero tariffs or partial tariff reductions, making its commitment to the highest level of liberalization. Key Chinese products, including oilseeds, vegetable oils, and pet food, will enter the Swiss market with more preferential tariff treatment. Based on the original agreement, China will further grant Swiss products preferential tariff treatment by immediately implementing zero tariffs or by implementing zero tariffs over a 5-year or 10-year transition period. Swiss coffee, machine tools, watches, and other products exported to China will have their tariffs gradually eliminated based on the partial or no tariff reductions under the original agreement.
