Data released by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission shows that in the week ending October 27, oil speculators reduced their net long positions in WTI crude oil by 6,616 contracts, bringing the current net long position to 104,314 contracts. As an important indicator of market speculative sentiment, the reduction in net long positions in WTI crude oil reflects, to some extent, a decline in speculative funds' bullish confidence in further increases in international crude oil prices during the week. Such position changes are often correlated with changes in factors such as crude oil supply and demand expectations and geopolitical fluctuations during the same period.
