[Iran Responds to Questions About Its Secrets] In an interview with Iranian state television on October 31, Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that Iran values diplomacy but will not back down on the issue of Iranian rights. When asked why Iran persists and whether it has any secrets it doesn't want to reveal, Rezaei said that if the United States is not punished, other countries will think they can attack Iran without consequence. Iran's most important deterrent is ending the war in a way that deters anyone from attacking it again. Rezaei also stated that he had read the letter from US Vice President Vance but had not yet replied. Rezaei said the US tone had completely changed, which was a good sign, indicating that the Iranian people had consolidated their victory and authority. (CCTV International Times)
