[Multiple Energy Facilities Attacked in Northern Sudan, Causing Widespread Power Outages] On November 1st local time, the Sudanese Armed Forces stated that multiple energy facilities in the Nile and Northern States of northern Sudan were attacked by drones, causing widespread power outages in central and northern Sudan. The Sudanese Armed Forces claimed that a power plant in Abhamad, Nile State, another power plant in Deba, Northern State, and two fuel storage facilities were severely damaged in the attacks. The Sudanese Armed Forces accused the Sudan Rapid Support Force of carrying out the attacks; the Rapid Support Force has not yet responded. Recently, power plants, oil pipelines, fuel storage facilities, and other energy facilities controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces in several regions of central, northern, and eastern Sudan have been frequently attacked by drones. According to statistics from the Sudan Electricity Company, since mid-October, more than 25 energy facilities have been attacked, further deteriorating power supply in several states. On April 15, 2023, armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Force in the capital Khartoum, and the fighting subsequently spread to other parts of Sudan. The armed conflict, which has lasted for more than three years, has resulted in at least 59,000 deaths. (CCTV News)
