[STT GDC in talks for S$3.1 billion syndicated loan as AI boom fuels data center debt financing] (1) Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Singaporean data center operator STT GDC is in talks with banks for a S$3.1 billion (approximately US$2.4 billion) syndicated loan as the AI boom continues to drive debt financing demand from infrastructure companies. (2) The loan has a three-year term, an interest rate 165 basis points higher than the benchmark Singapore overnight rate (SORA), and includes an option to extend for up to two years. The proceeds will be used to finance STT GDC's assets. (3) This deal further joins the debt financing wave driven by the AI boom; large-scale borrowing has pushed up bond yields and raised investor concerns, prompting the market to scrutinize the overvaluation of AI-related companies. Data shows that since the beginning of 2025, global AI-related debt financing has exceeded US$650 billion; Moody's ratings predict that data center-related investment will reach at least US$3 trillion in the next five years.
