[Blackstone Leads Investors to Acquire 49.9% Stake in LNG Canada Liquefaction Business for $3.1 Billion] (1) A group of investors led by Blackstone Group has agreed to acquire a 49.9% stake in the LNG Canada liquefaction business from a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation for $3.1 billion. (2) Other participating investors include the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, the Ontario Investment Management Company, and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board. (3) A statement released Monday indicated that Mitsubishi Corporation, a major Japanese LNG supplier, will remain a controlling partner and hold full ownership of the LNG purchases in the project.
