[Spain's October Manufacturing PMI Rises to 52.2, a More Than One-Year High] ⑴ Spain's S&P Global Manufacturing PMI rose to 52.2 in October 2026 from 51 in September, exceeding market expectations of 50.8 and marking the highest reading since August 2025. ⑵ Output and new orders grew simultaneously for the first time in six months, supported by stronger domestic and international demand. ⑶ Improved orders, coupled with production delays and a slight decline in employment, drove backlogs to increase at the fastest pace since August 2025. ⑷ Supply chain disruptions persisted, with significant increases in delivery times due to supplier inventory shortages and delays on major sea routes. ⑸ Manufacturers increased purchasing activity for the first time in five months. ⑹ However, rising energy, fuel, and transportation costs, along with higher metal prices, pushed input price inflation to its fastest pace since May. Businesses subsequently raised their selling prices. ⑺ Looking ahead, business confidence weakened due to cost pressures and geopolitical uncertainty.
