(2) The Bulgarian official said on Tuesday that although there are currently no signs that rising energy costs will lead to higher wage demands, policymakers should not wait for clear evidence of a second round of price transmission effects before taking action. (3) He said: "The pause on rate hikes in October is only to assess the existing data, not to declare that the monetary policy tightening cycle has ended. If inflationary pressures persist, we cannot assume that the current interest rate level is sufficient."
