[Global Central Bank Gold Purchases Surge, Significant Increase in Q3] ⑴ The World Gold Council stated on Tuesday that global central bank gold purchases increased by approximately 40% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026. ⑵ Gold-backed exchange-traded funds also resumed inflows. ⑶ Central banks and other official institutions added approximately 321 tons of reserves in the quarter, the strongest single-quarter increase since the fourth quarter of 2024. ⑷ Cumulative gold purchases in the first nine months reached 675 tons, an increase of approximately 6% compared to the same period last year.
