[International Energy Agency: EU Gas Storage Shortages Approaching Heating Season] The International Energy Agency (IEA) stated in a report released on October 3rd that with winter approaching, gas storage levels in EU facilities are at their lowest level since 2013. This could exacerbate winter gas price volatility and put pressure on international markets until 2027. The IEA said that as of the end of October, EU gas storage facilities held approximately 75% of their total capacity, significantly below the EU's minimum target of 80%. This means the EU's buffer against market supply fluctuations is shrinking, and demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) may increase further. The EU's gas replenishment efforts could further push up international natural gas prices.
