[Fries: Election Results Reject “Corruption” and “Extremism”, Democrats Will Strengthen Accountability] (1) House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries said today’s election results are a rejection of “corruption” and “extremism”; forecasts show Democrats will regain control of the House, which would give him a chance to become the first Black Speaker of the House. (2) Speaking in Washington, Jeffries said: “The American people have spoken out and made it clear that they have had enough of extremism and corruption. They want a Congress that does things for the American people, and that’s exactly what House Democrats will do when they take office in January.” (3) As House Democrats prepare to launch multiple investigations into the Trump administration, Jeffries pledged to strengthen accountability. (4) He said he would hold accountable those who have brought unprecedented corruption to the country, because those in high positions who are focused on enriching themselves, their families, friends, or donors will not be focused on improving the lives of the American people. (5) Jeffries stressed that House Democrats will put the American people first.
