[Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Prices in Pakistan Soar to 600 Rupees Per Kilogram] ⑴ Muhammad Ali Haider, convener of the Standing Committee on Liquefied Petroleum Gas in Pakistan, stated that LPG prices have surged from 380 rupees per kilogram to a high of 600 rupees (equivalent to US$2.2). ⑵ The official price set by the Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (PGRAA) for LPG is 294 rupees per kilogram. ⑶ Haider stated in Karachi that Pakistan relies on imports for 70% of its LPG, with 80% sourced from neighboring Iran. ⑷ He noted that oil prices rose after the closure of the Pakistan-Iran border; even with the recent reopening of the border, transportation efficiency remains low.
