[Germany's October Services PMI Final Reading Revised Up to 52.5, Growth Slows Slightly] ⑴ Germany's final S&P Global Services PMI for October was revised upward to 52.5, from an initial reading of 51.7, but lower than September's 52.9. ⑵ The index remained in expansion territory for the second consecutive month, but the pace of growth slowed slightly due to a renewed decline in new business inflows, partly dragged down by weaker domestic and overseas demand. ⑶ Meanwhile, backlogs of orders supported activity levels. Employment fell for the first time since July, the largest drop in six months. ⑷ On the price front, input cost inflation slowed for the first time in four months, partly reflecting the recovery of fuel discounts, but price pressures remain high by historical standards. Output price inflation also eased. ⑸ Despite weak demand and declining employment, business confidence rose to its highest level since February, supported by expectations of an economic recovery.
