[US Layoffs Show Significant Year-on-Year Decline in First 10 Months] ⑴ The Challenger Layoffs Report shows that as of the end of October, employers had announced 617,189 job cuts. ⑵ This figure is approximately 44% lower than the 1,099,500 job cuts announced in the first 10 months of 2025. ⑶ This is also the lowest cumulative number of layoffs by the end of October since 2022, when 243,338 layoffs were announced in the same period. ⑷ Overall, the scale of layoffs announced by US employers in the first 10 months of this year has significantly contracted compared to the same period last year.
