[Saxo Strategist: Hawkish Decision, December Rate Hike Probability Rises to Approximately 50%] ⑴ Saxo's UK investment strategist stated that the decision leaned hawkish, with the rate hike in line with consensus and sending a strong signal of another rate hike soon. ⑵ The strategist noted that market bets on a December rate hike have risen from about a quarter to nearly 50%, and have already factored in three further rate hikes before September next year. ⑶ The strategist stated that the Bank of England currently expects inflation to peak at 4.9% in 2027, a rather hawkish assessment of the price path that seems to suggest a second rate hike as early as December, and whether this marks the end of a shallow rate hike cycle depends on the situation in the Middle East.
