[Zakharova: No Real Progress in Russia-US Relations, Normalization Initiatives Undermined by US Congress] (1) Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that in recent years, initiatives concerning the normalization of relations between Moscow and Washington have been sabotaged by conspiracies by some in the US Congress. (2) Zakharova said at a press conference that a stable anti-Russian consensus has formed within the US Congress, openly undermining ideas and initiatives aimed at at least achieving relative normalization of bilateral relations, "that's the reality." (3) She said on November 5 that there has been no real progress in Russia-US relations: there has been no progress on issues of Russian diplomatic property and air traffic. (4) Zakharova said at a briefing that there is no real progress to speak of and no sign of it; there has been no progress on issues such as the return of confiscated Russian diplomatic property and the restoration of air traffic. Nevertheless, the ongoing dialogue with the US at different levels is generally pragmatic.
