[Construction of the World's First Commercial High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor Nuclear Island Fully Commences] Today (June 6), construction of the nuclear island for the "Chilong-1" high-temperature gas-cooled reactor at the Xuwei Nuclear Power Plant in Jiangsu Province was fully commenced. This marks a significant step towards the large-scale commercialization of my country's independently developed fourth-generation nuclear power technology. The "Chilong-1" high-temperature gas-cooled reactor is a fourth-generation advanced nuclear energy technology independently developed by my country with complete independent intellectual property rights. It uses spherical fuel elements and can withstand temperatures up to 1620 degrees Celsius. Even if the nuclear power plant loses its cooling function, the reactor can maintain safety through natural heat dissipation.
