[To Address Nursing Shortage, Japan Systematically Imports and Trains Caregivers from India] 1. To address the increasingly severe problem of an aging population and a shortage of nursing care personnel, Japan has begun systematically importing caregivers from India. Since the program began in 2022, the number of Indian caregivers in Japan has increased to approximately 300, a 73% increase from the previous year. 2. Since 2024, Japan Property Insurance Nursing Company, a well-known Japanese nursing service company, has been conducting targeted recruitment in India, prioritizing those with existing nursing experience and providing them with approximately nine months of Japanese language and nursing skills training, followed by assistance with obtaining work permits in Japan. To date, the company has successfully assisted six Indian caregivers in finding employment in Japan this year.
