[Turkey's Current Account Deficit Widens to Eight-Month High in December 2025] ⑴ Turkey's current account deficit widened to $7.25 billion in December 2025. ⑵ The deficit was $4.72 billion in the same period last year. ⑶ This figure exceeded market expectations of $5.2 billion, marking the largest deficit since April. ⑷ The goods account deficit widened to $7.44 billion from $6.23 billion in December 2024. ⑸ The primary income deficit widened to $2.37 billion from $1.63 billion. ⑹ The secondary income account recorded a deficit of $0.97 billion, compared to a surplus of $1.1 billion in the same period last year. ⑺ The services account surplus narrowed to $2.65 billion from $3.03 billion in the same period last year. ⑻ Excluding gold and energy, the current account recorded a deficit of $960 million. ⑼ The country's current account deficit for the whole of 2025 is $25.21 billion. (10) The deficit has increased significantly compared to the $10.42 billion deficit in 2024.
