[Czech inflation slows to 1.6% in January 2026, a new low since 2016] ⑴ The Czech Republic's annual inflation rate slowed to 1.6% in January 2026 from 2.1% in December. ⑵ This figure is consistent with the preliminary estimate and is the lowest level since November 2016. ⑶ This is mainly due to lower prices for clothing, footwear, and transportation. ⑷ Clothing and footwear prices fell 2.6% year-on-year, compared to a 2.1% decline in December. ⑸ Transportation prices fell 1.6% year-on-year, compared to a 0.1% decline in December. ⑹ Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose more slowly to 1.3%, compared to 1.7% in December. ⑺ Housing and utilities prices rose more slowly to 0.8%, compared to 1.9% in December. ⑻ Information and communication prices rose more slowly to 1.5%, compared to 2.3% in December. ⑼ Alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices rose more quickly to 4.7%, compared to 4.1% in December. (10) Health prices rose more rapidly to 4.4%, compared to 3.3% in December. (11) On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.9% in January. (12) The previous month saw a month-on-month decrease of 0.3%.
