On February 13 local time, Ryan Laws, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the attempted assassination of Trump, filed a notice of appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. According to procedure, filing a notice of appeal means that the case will enter the federal appeal stage. The appeals court will review whether there were any legal errors in the first instance procedure, but will not re-examine the facts of the case.
