Former Israeli Prime Minister Apologizes for Relationship with Epstein. In a recent interview with Israel's Channel 12 television, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak apologized for his relationship with American businessman Jeffrey Epstein, but denied any involvement in related illegal or improper activities. Barak served as Prime Minister of Israel from 1999 to 2001. It has been reported that Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting minors into prostitution, but Barak maintained contact with Epstein afterward and was photographed entering and leaving Epstein's New York property on multiple occasions. Barak stated that at the time, he did not hold a government position, and as an ordinary citizen, he had "the right to live in an apartment given to him by someone with whom he had social or business relationships." Furthermore, at the time, the American elite simply viewed Epstein as an "ordinary person who had atoneed and reintegrated into society." Barak also stated that more information about his contact with Epstein would be available in the coming weeks, but this information would not prove that he had participated in any criminal or improper activities.
