February 15th marked the first day of the "longest Spring Festival holiday" and the "Little Lunar New Year's Eve" of the Year of the Horse. While many people were rushing home from their work cities, a group of travelers born in the 1960s and 1970s had already arrived in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen to reunite with their children. Data from Qunar Travel showed that this day was the peak for hotel check-ins among travelers aged 60 and above, with check-ins increasing by 60% compared to the previous day and by 54% compared to the first day of the Spring Festival holiday in 2025. This "reverse Spring Festival" trend brought parents to big cities, and people used the money saved on airfare to treat them to hotels, scenic spots, and road trips. This wave of "reverse Spring Festival" tourists also made the Spring Festival in major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen less deserted, and the tourism consumption market was even more booming than in previous years.
