[Brazil's soybean harvest lags behind last year, second-season corn planting also slows] ⑴ Agricultural consultancy AgRural said on Monday that as of last Thursday, Brazilian farmers had harvested 21% of the 2025/26 soybean crop, a 5 percentage point increase from the previous week, but lower than the 24% harvest at the same time last year. ⑵ AgRural stated that the slowdown in harvesting is mainly due to increased rainfall in some states, particularly Mato Grosso, where sunny weather has become scarce. Second-season corn planting in south-central Brazil has reached 31% of the projected area, compared to 36% at the same time last year. The first-season corn harvest is 22% complete, lagging behind the 29% harvest at the same time last year.
